He/she will support the efforts of students in their pursuit of academic scholarships/fellowships and research opportunities as well as advocate and promote academic excellence, scholarship, leadership, international learning and service in the Rice University community....
Required: Bachelor's degree; one year of full-time experience coordinating campus programs, advising undergraduate students, or with fellowships and/or research opportunities (domestic or international) OR two or more years of any combination of graduate internships or undergraduate leadership in campus service, leadership or fellowships programs accepted in lieu of full-time work experience.

CDC opportunity: genetics

Description: We seeking a student who is interested in investigating genetic variants of human cytochromes P450, including homology modeling.


The student will be stationed either in a lab in proximity to Little Rock, AR (housing will be taken care) and/or on the CDC campus in Chamblee/Atlanta, GA. However, at least a fraction of the appointment the student must be in AR. During that period student’s personal transportation is highly recommended.

Earth, Wind, and Fire: Sustainable Energy research at the University of Kansas

Description: This is an opportunity to become engaged in research that addresses the area of sustainable energy and to develop the skills and viewpoints necessary to be part  of the solution to the issues associated with sustainability. The title of the REU represents the wide variety of sustainable energy sources the students will explore: "earth" represents the growth and harvesting of  energy from biomass, "wind" represents using the wind to generate electricity, and "fire" represents harvesting solar energy.

Deadline: Preference will be given to applications that are received by February 15, 2010.



Water Resources Research at the University of Florida

Description: to provide 8 students with 8-weeks of research experiences in quantifying water and energy demands of various land uses in Florida. The students will also learn the significance of this quantification and how it can result in changes in current management practices and decisions, through extension activities.
