CDC: intern to develop mobile phone apps

A computational toxicology team at CDC/ATSDR is seeking a summer intern capable of developing mobile phone applications. Individuals with a record in iOS apps programming are preferred. The internship is available immediately after the paperwork is processed. The stipend is awarded commensurate with degree and experience based on the federal pay schedule. Biochemical markers, environmental health @ CDC

This summer the Oak Ridge Institute for Science Education (ORISE) will be offering a fellowship opportunity in partnership with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. The CDC is looking for talented candidates to assist with projects associated with developing and applying new methods to characterize and quantify biochemical markers that are relevant in environmental exposures and chronic diseases. Qualified candidates will be undergraduate college students, who plan to major in biology or chemistry and have taken general biology and chemistry college-level courses.

CDC opportunity: genetics

Description: We seeking a student who is interested in investigating genetic variants of human cytochromes P450, including homology modeling.


The student will be stationed either in a lab in proximity to Little Rock, AR (housing will be taken care) and/or on the CDC campus in Chamblee/Atlanta, GA. However, at least a fraction of the appointment the student must be in AR. During that period student’s personal transportation is highly recommended.

Collegiate Leaders in Environmental Health (CLEH) Summer Internship @ Atlanta CDC

CDC/ATSDR’s National Center for Environmental Health/Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (NCEH/ATSDR) is offering a 10-week summer internship program for students in Environmental Studies, Ecology, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, and other related majors to take place June 9-August 13, 2010.   During the course of the internship, students are introduced to environmental health at the federal level through project collaboration, experiential learning opportunities, individual environmental health presentations, journal clubs, field trips, brown bag lunches, and through shadowing and mentoring relationships at CDC/ATSDR.  Interns will be based at CDC/ATSDR’s Atlanta-Chamblee Campus where NCEH/ATSDR is housed.  Students are paid $500 a week during the course of the program.

Eligibility requirements for CLEH interns:

• US citizenship or Permanent  Resident with a green card,
• Full time enrollment at a  college or university as a rising junior or rising senior by fall 2010  
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0  on a 4.0 scale, and
• An academic major or  demonstrated coursework concentration in Environmental Studies, Engineering,  Chemistry, Biology, Ecology or related fields. 

Note: Seniors graduating in Spring 2010 will not be accepted to this program.
